Getting there and around
Airport
Flughafen Frankfurt-am-Main is Germany's main gateway and continental Europe's busiest airport. It's a mini-city of two massive terminals linked by the Sky Line elevated railway, and just about every major airline flies here from around the world.
You can travel with German Rail (Deutsche Bahn) from anywhere in Germany or Europe to Frankfurt Airport. The airport has two train stations:
• Regional train station
• Long-distance train station
To get to the airport from Frankfurt or elsewhere in the Rhine-Main region, you can take advantage of local public transportation services.
A large number of bus connections are available for getting to and from the airport. You'll find bus stops in front of Terminal 1 (Arrivals level) and Terminal 2 (Level 2).
A sufficient number of taxis is available around the clock at both terminals.
Public transport
The Frankfurt public transportation system includes regional trains (RB), regional express trains (RE), S-Bahn, U-Bahn, trams and buses. The system allows you to travel with all methods of transportation on one ticket.
Tickets (Fahrkarten) can be purchased from the RMV machines at tram and bus stops, as well as at U and S-Bahn stations. The multilingual machines accept coins and banknotes, but only issue tickets for immediate use as Frankfurt has no validating machines.
